You can have your cake and eat it too

If it's not making money then it's definitely spending it. And who wants that to be their default setting right? 

Have you ever wondered what it's like to draw regret from the truth of a thousand lies? (Linkin Park reference here) I have. Not pretty. 

My dad said to me you lie through your teeth and I said, "Well at least I make an effort to spare you your feelings." That's what lies are to me, a way to not drive an unintentional stake through someone's heart. You may or may not want to hear the truth, but who doesn't love beautiful lies. I saw this in a movie, "Agar jhoot bolne se kisi ka ghar banta hai, woh jhoot jhoot nahi hota." and I absolutely stand by it. But obviously, you can lie about almost all things, does that make your reality more complex or simpler? If it involves random people on the internet or strangers/acquaintances you meet on the daily then it doesn't matter if it's the truth or a lie, as long as its on their faces they'll be fine.
